What??? Christmas Break, Already!!

We are so sad!! We can't imagine 2 entire weeks of not waking up early, corralling our own kiddos to get ready for school, greeting 22 school friends, writing lesson plans, making ornaments, or giving/taking dojo points!!

Ha ha, right :). Woohoo!!! Sleeping late!! Laying around in pj's all day!! Shopping and Family time!! Yahoo!!

Poor Cristy!! She is on her second round of antibiotics and steroid pack for her bronchitis. Poor friend has had a hacking cough for weeks. So I hope Cristy and Sammy (her oldest, precious baby boy) who has also been hacking feel better soon!!!

Anyway, we just wanted to check in and show you what we have been up to. Natalie my faithful pal and assistant has come through again!! Check out this cutie pie ornament that she came up with last minute because we could not find noodles for our noodle tree! Super cute!

Help needed with wreath making! I made the red wreath for Natalie. I think I finally figured out that loose loops are the key!!! My poor mom and a friend have received wreaths with tight loops and they are not nearly as cute!! Let me know if you have any tips :).

Have a great break!! We will check again soon!

Merry Christmas Sale!

Friends---it's HERE!  It's really finally here!  CHRIST-MAAAAAS!!!!

We have our last week of school coming up, and then it's nothing but snuggling with family, wrapping, decorating, baking, churching, caroling, and celebrating!

BUT---there's still that last little week to get through!  Now don't get us wrong, we LOVE our littles, but you know, you KNOW how cray-cray it all gets that LAST week!!!

So to help you keep your littles in line, we are putting our store on sale for the next 3 days (15% off of everything!) to help you grab some last minute lessons to keep your kiddos focused!  We are ALL about some holiday fun, but as we say "FUN does NOT equal CRAZY!!!"  SOOOO we try to mix in lots of holiday activities throughout the week, but make sure they involve reading, writing, crafting all mixed in to keep some semblance of SANITY!

So we hope you can find a Christmas goodie to keep your kiddos focused. Or heck, if you are crazy stinkin' organized then maybe you can find some math or winter goodies to help you get ready for January!

And if you still want some good old fashioned fun with ABSOLUTELY no educational intent AT ALL...then try out this super fun photo booth idea!  We did it with our staff this past week and it was just too fun!

Click the picture to grab these SUPER CUTE photo booth props FREE from Catching Fireflies!

We are so blessed every day of our lives and so thankful for our Good Lord above!  Merry Christmas!

Remembering Sandy Hook

As educators, we remember and honor our fallen colleagues and their students from Sandy Hook School. We honor them each day in our classrooms in which we continue their dream of teaching our children. We honor their memory with our service. Join with teachers everywhere in committing random acts of kindness to show our love for Sandy Hook.

A little magic! Christmas, Chanukah, and Kwanzaa! Want it? You know what to do!

Twas 6 days before vacation and all through the schools
The kiddos were stirring and trying to follow rules!

The teachers were assessing and helping kids out
Create ornaments for parents that will make them SHOUT!

You got it friends!! We are trying to finish up all our assessments this week, so that we can really enjoy our kiddos next week!

We are so excited about all the ornaments and treats the kids are making for the their parents! After we finish our ornaments we will post pictures!

Want to create a little magic for your kiddos!! Well, we have been doing this for several years and it is awesome! Our kiddos write letters to Santa. Then we mail them to Santa (a local middle school class who answers our letters).

So, Mrs. Darby Jones at a local middle school has her students write responses to our kiddos' letters. We had our kids write about their behavior, what they want, and ask Santa a question.
The responses we get never promise to get the students what they want, but acknowledge our students' behavior, answer any questions and promise to do their best to get what they want. All the letters are signed differently. Santa, elves, reindeer, and Mrs. Claus all help answer our kids' letters.

The best part is the day of our holiday party, I wet and freeze a stocking with the response letters rolled up inside. Then around our party time, the principal or assistant principal will deliver the frozen stocking and say that she heard jingle bells and went outside to check it out. Then she will say that she found the stocking and it is still cold and icy. We let all the kiddos feel the stocking!! It is awesome!!

If no time to try it this year, maybe next year!

Anyway....

We can't wait to start using our newest pack! It is called Christmas, Chanukah and Kwanzaa Literacy Activities and Emergent Readers! Check it out below.

We created this pack so that we could add some leveled readers to our kiddos book boxes that give students information about the different holidays that people celebrate around this time of year (Even though Chanukah came super early this year).

We will also work on some informational writing pertaining to the holidays! Why not throw something HOT in by comparing the holidays!!

We think the kiddos will be more motivated to work if we are working on what they are thinking about, talking about and dreaming about!!

So everything will still be very academic, but very fun!

Leave us a comment and let us know what you think. If you have any suggestions about how to make this pack better or more useful, we would love the feedback.

Don't forget to leave your email address just in case we want to send you this pack!!
Thanks for reading! Have a great week before vacation!
